AI Disclosure: A Practical Guide to Transparency That Builds Trust
A 7-step framework and workbook for disclosing exactly how you use AI and why it matters.
Every week, I get some version of this question. Sometimes it’s direct: what tools do you use, what do you let AI do, how do you think about disclosure? Sometimes it’s the version people are almost too embarrassed to ask: I’ve been using it, but I’m not sure I should be, or I’m not sure what I’d say if someone asked me about it.
So I built a workbook to help you think through these questions and decide how you should disclose your use of AI.
The AI Transparency Workbook is a practical framework for figuring out how you actually use AI and how to talk about it publicly in a way you can stand behind. Not a generic disclosure template. Not a lecture about ethics. A structured process for working through what you actually do, where your lines are, and what your people engaging with your content deserve to know.
Here’s what’s in it:
Why transparency matters and what’s actually making people anxious about it. Most of the anxiety I see comes down to three fears: I’ll seem lazy, I’ll lose my voice, I’ll be judged by other writers. The workbook names them directly because anxiety usually points to exactly what you need to think through.
A map of every stage where AI touches the work. Research, brainstorming, structure, drafting, editing, repurposing — they’re not the same thing, and a disclosure policy that treats them the same isn’t serving your readers or you. The workbook walks through it all so you can see your own practice clearly.
What good disclosure actually looks like and what to avoid. There’s a real difference between a policy that builds trust and one that’s just noise. The workbook gives you the principles, two real-world benchmarks (including how I handle it at Anchor Change), and a template to adapt.
This is where the free preview ends. Paid subscribers get the full workbook — including the seven-question framework for writing your own policy and the complete template — as a download below.
