I’m trying something new this week. I could say that I’ve always wanted to do a video newsletter (I have), but that’s not the real reason I’m doing a video this week. The real reason is that I’m suffering from writer’s block, have a packed schedule, and try not to be too hard on myself about fitting it all in.
I’m hesitant to take a week off posting out of fear that I’ll get out of the habit, and I had a 30-minute break in meetings yesterday, so I figured, why not do a video?
It’s just seven minutes (though that feels long) with my hot takes on what I’m watching this month. August is never quiet despite me thinking every year that it will be, and this year promises to be no different. One thing I talk about is how Trump told Fox Business that Zuckerberg had called him a few times - including after Meta incorrectly applied a fact-check label to photos of the assassination attempt. I’m a little surprised that’s not getting more coverage, but I wanted to link that story. (Note I say in the video I thought I originally saw it in the Hindustan Times, but it was the Times of India. I then went and found the Fox Business article since that’s where he said it and there’s video.)
Let me know how you like the format and if you’d like more videos. Watch your inbox tomorrow morning, as I have a new Summer Spectacular podcast episode with my good friend Emi Kolawole. Emi has over 10 years of career in communications, design, and technology. We talk about efforts to get more women and minorities in tech, why we’re both optimistic about the long term, and how we use tools like tarot for personal growth.
Enjoy!
