I used to spend $100 per episode on editing. That’s not nothing—especially when you’re funding your podcast out of pocket.

While I still believe in hiring pros when you can (shoutout to the amazing Theo Balcomb who helped me shape this season), I needed a more DIY approach to keep going.

Enter my trio of AI tools: Riverside, ChatGPT, and Canva.

With these, I now:

  • Record in a branded, pro-looking studio

  • Generate interview questions and episode outlines

  • Edit video and audio (with AI’s help)

  • Create show notes, transcripts, and social media clips

  • Publish and promote—all on my own

Here’s a peek at the tools and steps I use to edit every episode.

My AI Podcast Workflow: The Tools

  • Riverside – For recording, editing, AI-generated clips, and transcripts

  • ChatGPT – For developing questions, outlines, and promo blurbs

  • Canva – For intro/outro design, social visuals, and video assets

  • Substack – For AI-powered transcripts, formatting, and publishing

Before We Hit Record

On Riverside, I upload my Anchor Change branding so the background and logo are automatically applied. It gives the whole experience a more professional, cohesive look.

I also discovered their teleprompter tool, which I use to load my questions. No more balancing Post-Its under my webcam.

To prep those questions, I prompted ChatGPT like this:

“I’m interviewing Christina Wallace about her book The Portfolio Life for my podcast on navigating change. The episode is 40 minutes. Help me write strong, open-ended questions that touch on career reinvention, creative pivots, and Gen Z.”

In addition to that prompt I added a bunch of things I highlighted from her book that I wanted to talk about—and boom, we were ready to roll.

Recording Done. Now What?

Once we finished, the real work began.

Here’s how I edited the episode, built my intro with Canva, utilized AI to create social clips, and crafted my show notes and promo content.

I’ll walk you through:

  • My exact editing workflow inside Riverside

  • How I created an intro using AI-powered Canva templates and b-roll

  • The secret to generating five social video clips in 30 seconds

  • What I’d do differently next time
