I’m back at my parents' cabin in Eagle River, Wisconsin. We had an absolute blast fishing in Canada. Between the eight of us, we caught over 600 fish. (We only kept two a piece and whatever we had for lunch a few days. The rest we released back into the lake.)
On the first day, my uncle and I saw a moose and her baby. For a few days, the lake was so calm it was like glass; for others, the wind blew so much that the ride back to camp was quite rocky. By Thursday, I resigned myself to not catching a big Northern Pike, but then on my first cast, I got a 32-incher, and a little while later, I snagged a 31-incher.
The Northwoods of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, and Canada are some of my favorite scenery in the world. The limited Internet access, boat rides, and casting for fish really gave me time and space to think about all sorts of things. I currently have a running doc of over 75 things/ideas that will continue to grow this week that I’m home.
Here are a few pictures from my adventures.
My 31” Northern.
Family pic at my favorite shore lunch spot.
Big walleye.
The water was like glass some mornings. Those boat rides with my coffee are my favorite.
My 32” Northern.
Saw this tea kettle and set up on shore one day. Fun to think about how it got there and who else had been at this spot.
I haven’t decided yet if I’m doing a newsletter for Wednesday, July 3. With the Supreme Court due to drop the NetChoice decision on Monday, it will likely depend on that. Otherwise, I will take this rare time to hang with my family and be back for your regularly scheduled programming the week of July 8.
Have a great Sunday!
