Now that the election is behind us, I wanted to reflect on some observations. Eric mentioned, which Betsy additionally seemed to champion, the importance of focusing on a particular team (Dem or Repub party), but the voting data suggests a more complex picture. Even in districts where Trump secured wins, candidates from across the ballot found success. For instance, AOC noted on her Instagram story that she saw voters supporting both her and Trump, which raises an important question: Is siloing voters into strict partisan categories ineffective when it comes to reaching swing voters?

Building on this, Eric also highlighted that the two major parties engage their respective bases in very different ways. While his point is valid, it seems that swing voters—those who support candidates across party lines—are becoming increasingly significant. Perhaps these voters occupy a "room" distinct from the purely Democratic or Republican bases, requiring a different approach to engagement.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this dynamic and how it might influence future strategies. Thank you, Katie, for hosting such an enlightening discussion!
